March is Brain Injury month: What you need to know
Here are some facts:
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention:
2.8 million Americans sustain a traumatic brain injury every year;
More than 56,000 people die every year as a result of TBI;
Causes of TBI include motor vehicle crashes, falls, sport and recreation related injuries, and assaults;
5.3 million Americans have life-long physical and psychological needs due to TBI.

If facts alone could lead to change, we would need only to receive a daily email with information and then proceed with changing health policy, work policies, accessibility provisions, among other things.
Facts tell us that TBI is a significant health problem. What you need to know goes beyond statistics.
The tricky thing about awareness is that it asks us to see what has it often invisible. Perhaps as you read this you’ll think about someone you know, or think about yourself, dealing with TBI. In all likelihood, most of us know someone whose life has been irrevocably impacted; Someone who lives with a TBi; or the spouse, mother, sister, brother, uncle, friend of a TBI survivor, or you are the member of a community in which someone…
